WHAT IS THE INVENTION?
        According to Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On inventions, utility models and industrial designs" (new edition is approved on 29.08.2002), as inventions consider: devices; methods; substances; strains of microorganisms; cultures of cells of plants and animals; application of known before devices, methods, substances, strains of microorganisms on new purpose.
        In Uzbekistan, according to world practice, do not considered as inventions: scientific theories and mathematical methods; methods of the organization and management; symbols, schedules, rules; rules and methods of performance of intellectual operations; algorithms and programs for electronic computers; projects and schemes of a lay-out of buildings, constructions, territories; the decisions concerning only of appearance of products, directed on satisfaction of aesthetic needs; topology of integrated microcircuits; grades of plants and breeds of animals; the decisions contradicting public interests, principles of humanity and morals.
        The patent certifies the right to the invention. The exclusive right to possession, using and the dispose is given to the owner of the patent the invention.
        To be patented, the invention should be new, industrially applicable and have inventive step (last requirement means, that the offered technical decision should not be obvious to the expert in the given area).
        The patent grants after carrying out of state examination and operates within twenty years, beginning from date of filing application for granting of the patent in Patent Office, under condition of payment of patent fees.

        HOW TO GET PATENT FOR INVENTION?
        The application for granting of the patent files by the author, employer or their assignee in Patent Office.
        The application for granting of the patent can be filed personally, through the patent attorney or the authorized representative.
        The application should concern to one invention or group of inventions connected among themselves so, that they form uniform inventive plan.
        The application for the invention should contain:
                - the application for granting of the patent with the indication of the author (co-authors) of the invention and the person addressed to which the patent is claimed, and also their residences or site;
                - the description of the invention opening with completeness, sufficient for its realization;
                - the formula of the invention expressing it’s essence and completely corresponding description;
                - drawings and other materials if they are necessary for understanding of essence of the invention;
                - the abstract of the invention.
        The application is made out according to Rules.

        The following documents are applied on the application:
                - the document confirming payment of the fee in the established size, or the document confirming the bases for clearing of payment of the fee;
                - the power of attorney that has been given out by the applicant to the patent attorney or the authorized representative at filing of application through the patent attorney or the authorized representative.
        The applicant, wishing to take advantage of the right of conventional priority according to the Parisian Convention on Protection of the Industrial Property is obliged to specify it at filing application and (or) to present necessary materials not later than three months from the date of filing application in SPO.

        PUBLICATIONS
        Data on newly registered inventions in the Republic of Uzbekistan are published in the official bulletin of Patent Office "Rasmiy         Ahborotnoma" (from January 1, 2007 issues once a month).
